Anchor Summary
Prokaryotic and eukaryotic are two different types if cells. However, prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms share many characteristics of life. This includes obtaining and using energy, maintaining a stable internal state (also known as homeostasis), the ability to grow, the ability to reproduce, and responding to stimuli in the environment. Other then that prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells are almost nothing alike. For starters one of their main differences is that prokaryotic cells are unicellular while eukaryotic cells are multicellular. Another thing that can allow you differentiate the two is that prokaryotic cells are not membrane-bound, which means that they don’t have a nucleus and their DNA is found in their cytoplasm. Eukaryotic cells, however are membrane bound and their DNA is located in the nucleus. Multicellular organisms are organisms that are made up of several eukaryotic cells. Eukaryotic cells and prokaryotic cells are both made up of several organelles that carry out specialized functions. Tissues are composed of several cells with similar functions, while tissues with a common function make up an organ. Lastly an organ system, is made up of several other organs to carry out a task. For example, our digestive system are made up of the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and many more organ and it carries out the task of digesting and breaking down food.

Important Notes
Key Terms
Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) - a small suitable molecule that provides energy for reactions throughout the cell; ATP releases energy when a phosphate bond is broken.
Cell - the basic unit of life.
Deoxyribonucleic acid, DNA - the molecule that stores genetic information in living things.
Eukaryote - an organism made up of one or more complex cell with dna contained in the nucleus and specialized membrane-bound organelle.
Homeostasis - the process of maintaining a stable internal environment.
Lipids - organic compounds composed of carbon and hydrogen and relatively little oxygen that are in saludable in water.
Multicellular - made up of many cells with specialized functions..
Nucleus - a membrane-bound organelle in eukaryotic cell that contains genetic material.
Organ - a structure composed of two or more tissue types that performs a specific function.
Organ system - a group of organs that work together to perform a specific function.
Organelle - a specialized part of the cell with a specific function.
Organism - an individual living thing such as an animal plant fungi protist or bacteria.
Prokaryote - a unicellular organism lacking a nucleus and membrane-bound organelle.
Tissue - an anatomical structure made of similar cells that perform a specific function.
Unicellular - made up of a singular cell.
